I am 32 years old, living on the beautiful east coast of South Africa. I grew up in a small conservative town, before moving to Durban to study Visual Communication. This was where my love for art & imagery merged with my curiosity for technology, and where I truly learnt to appreciate a beautiful design aesthetic.
Currently based in Durban, South Africa, my love for trends and the fashion industry is not just a job but my passion.
My appreciation for a good aesthetic and design, stems from a Visual Communication background and flourished when I delved into the product design world…
After cutting my teeth at a branding company, I stumbled into the fashion industry, designing graphics for Volcom and O’neill South Africa.
That was when the fashion bug bit.
I then made the plunge, moving to Johannesburg as a ladies trend forecaster and product designer, for a jewellery and accessory supplier to all major retailers in South Africa. This was when I realised my passion for not only the fashion industry, but the intricacies of working closely with colour, silhouettes, print & pattern, looking to aspirational designers and obsessively watching the catwalks.
Researching, curating & presenting seasonal macro & micro trends that were commercial & relevant to the South African consumer was my core focus, along with designing customer-specific seasonal ranges. International buying & sourcing trips to Europe & Asia went hand-in-hand with seasonal range builds and I was fortunate to attend Premiere Classe Trend Fare in Paris, during Paris Fashion Week in March 2015.
After three years I decided to move back home to Durban. I now continue in my personal capacity as a Trend Forecaster, Creative Consultant & Designer, offering freelance and consultation services, curated trend reports and a design service.
